Cookware & Utensils

Current Pots & Utensils for Africa Trip:

Pots & Pans:
Bought June 2004 from MEC. Cost $75.00CDN
Type: MSR Alpine Guide Cookset
Weight: 1.4kg
Weight for Africa Trip: 500g will use only large pot with cover

We bought this set way back in 2004 and have carried around the world.  Finally realizing that we do not use the smaller pots ever. We had to replace the handle, but otherwise it is in excellent shape.

A large, multi-piece, non-coated stainless steel cookset that's ideal for groups, busy camp chefs, and sea kayakers. The stainless steel is robust, and the pots can be scrubbed out with sand or pebbles, but this set is intended more for ongoing hard use than creating delicate haute cuisine. However, folks aspiring to backcountry culinary wizardry may want to consider a non-stick coated pot set.

- Made of 18-8 stainless steel.

- Set includes 1, 2 and 3L pots with lids and
  a PanHandler pot lifter.

- Pots and lids have stepped bottoms to
  prevent warping.

- Rounded corners improve heat transfer.

GSI Lexan Cup (Total of 2)
Weight: 80g

These cups don't offer the same nostalgic appeal as the enamelled-metal mugs you may use at the cabin. On the other hand, Lexan cups are lighter, won't rust, won't burn your lips, and will keep your coffee or soup warmer longer.

- Made of Lexan (polycarbonate).

- Capacity is 12 oz./350ml

GSI Cascadian Plate & Bowl (Total of 2)
Weight: 108g & 57g

A light and durable, 25cm (9 3/4inch) diameter plate for meals.

A light and durable, 15cm (6 inch) polypropylene bowl for soup or cereal.

Snow Peak Titanium Spork (Total of 2)
Weight: 15g

Combination spoon and fork is made of titanium for lightweight strength
